Oct 31 Devotion: How Precious is Jesus to You?

1 Peter 2:7 “Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,”

Peter states a indisputable truth in this verse. To the believer, the obedient, Jesus is precious. Even someone saved can find that Jesus is no longer precious to them once they become disobedient to His commandments. Yet, I fear that even after the great revival meeting last week Jesus is still not the most precious thing in some lives.

Understand, Peter is asserting that Jesus is most precious. Far more than anything else. However, so many of us treat the priorities and obligations like traders do the stock market. Everything in our life has some value to us, and we shift our focus to whichever is the most profitable or valuable at this current moment. We trade one thing for another the moment that we think it is more valuable.

What Peter is saying, and what we all should strive to purpose within our   Own hearts is that Christ is the only thing of value. Anything else that I could invest in is counted as loss when compared to investing in the Kingdom of my Lord.

So how do you value the presence of Christ in your life. No doubt all will say that Jesus is valuable, but is he most precious in their life? Would they forsake all else to cling to Jesus? Would they sell all and give to the poor to take up their cross to follow Him? Will they deny themselves and embrace Christ?

To the obedient believer, they answer to all those questions is, “YES!” If not, then Christ is not as precious in your eyes as He is in truth. If ever we devalue the rarity and purity of our Lord, May we take advantage of a space of grace to repent of our error.

Your fellowservant in Christ, Bro. Jordan Foster
