Oct. 6 Devotion: Are We really praying?

1 Timothy 2:1-2 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; [2] For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

It’s a simple question. Are we praying? Not a now I lay me down to sleep prayer, but are we getting in our prayer closets and getting hold of the horns of the altar and reaching out to God!! We have people in our country that have lost everything due to natural disasters. We have people that have lost loved ones this past week due to hate. We have leaders that are hearing it from both sides on what they think we need. What we need is God!! Yes the Bible tells us perilous times are coming and they are here. The Bible also tells us this:

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

We are still here so there are still people God can and will save. It could be our prayers that lead to a great revival breaking out and many people coming to the saving knowledge of Christ before it’s too late. Make it a point from this point on to get serious about prayer so that we show up on Sunday ready to worship and see God do something miraculous!! Bro. Josh Richardson
