Oct 8 Devotion: Promises Kept
2 Corinthians 1:20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.
I was recently thinking about the promises that God has made in the Bible and came to this conclusion. All his promises fall into one of two categories. The first category are all the promises he has fulfilled. The second category are all the promises he will fulfill. There is no third category “for all the promises in him are yea, and in him Amen”. If he promised it, that settles it. He will do it. If he ever promised something and has not done it yet, it is because it is not time to fulfill it. But he will, because he promised and he fulfills every promise. He is God and he cannot lie. He never makes idle claims and his word is truth.
I look around and see all the insanity of a world gone crazy and wonder if it will ever get any better. But God made promises, and when the time comes, he will make all things new. He promised he would. You may doubt, but doubt doesn’t change who God is and what he will do. He will keep every promise. That is a wonderful truth for those that have put their faith in him, but it is a scary truth for those that have not. He will fulfill his promises to his children, but he will judge those that have shunned him and rejected Jesus Christ. He keeps his word. Ask yourself this question, which one of God’s promises applies to me? Is it the one’s of bliss or the one’s of judgment? He keeps them all.
2 Timothy 2:13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
If you are on the wrong side of his promises, here is a promise to consider this morning.
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
John 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
