Sept.10 Devotion:They Are All People

They Are All People

1 John 4:20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

Galatians 5:14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

What do you see when you look at others? I’m afraid we’ve reached a point where instead of seeing people as people, we instead classify them as something. We call them drug addicts or alcoholics. We look at them and think we have nothing in common based on age or race. We think they can’t be reached due to them attending church in some other religion. Internally this makes it easier for us. See if we don’t look at them as another person, or as our neighbor then we don’t feel conflicted when we don’t share the Gospel with them. Think back in Genesis when Joseph’s brothers wanted him dead. When they see Joseph coming they didn’t call him their brother, they called him a dreamer:

Genesis 37:19 And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh.

I understand these people may have issues or be different than us, but they are still people. God still sees them, just as us, as either saved or lost. If they are lost then they need the truth, not our opinions of them.

When we give others a label it makes it easier for us to not share the Gospel or to not invite them church. It’s just like other things in our life that we may do that don’t align with God. We make excuse in our own minds on why we don’t do something.

As you go through your day today, and look into those faces around you, what do you see? Do you see a person or a label?

God bless you today!
