Sept 21 Devotion: Do You Have Time?

Do You Have Time?

Mark 10:29-30

[29] And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s, [30] But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

Have you ever watched TV coverage of a hurricane like this past week, and wondered why are there still people there? At times you’ll hear they have no place to go. However, most of the time it’s the fact they are afraid of someone stealing their stuff. So they would rather put their life on the line than risk losing “stuff.”

What do we hold onto instead of doing what God would have us to do? We will follow a job for more money without giving a thought to what church we would attend in a new city. If it was God that led us to that city we would spend time in prayer double and triple checking before we went. We make a lot of decisions based on what we can physically see, or how we feel things will work out. Too often this is based on that we have things we refuse to give up. We don’t think God will give us a new job making enough money, or we become too attached to our home.

Sometimes it may even just be our time. Our Pastor has been preaching messages the last few weeks to help get us prepared for revival. We live a fast paced society where we never seem to have enough time. Therefore, we take time from God instead of other places in our lives. It’s not that we don’t have time for God, it’s that we don’t want to give Him our time. Our boss asks us to work OT, and we will because we could use the money. New show or movie comes out, and we will free up time to watch. Make sure we make time for out favorite teams, or plan our day to attend the big sale at our favorite store.

What if we did the same thing for God? We attend church services at times with the rest of our day already planned out. Never giving a chance for God to show up. We will attend revival planning on what time we will leave each evening. Sometimes it’s not all about having to give up our job, our home, or even friends and family. It might just be devoting a little more of our time to Him.

What could He do in our lives if we would just make little more time for Him?!

God Bless You Today!
