Sept 21 Devotion: Some Reasons For Studying

Some Reasons For Studying

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

When you look up the word study you can come across a few definitions: The devotion of time and attention to acquiring knowledge on a subject, especially by means of books.

A detailed investigation and analysis of a subject or situation.

We all know then how our text verse instructs us to study. For starters today just ask yourself this question. Do I ever sit down with Gods Word and do a detailed investigation into acquiring knowledge? Think back to if you’ve ever switched tv subscribers. The most aggravating thing is re-learning the guide and what number each channel is. Is there anything in Gods Word you know as well as your tv channel lineup? Why is it important to know the Bible that well? What if someone was to ask you questions about the Word? It could be a question on why you believe something, or possibly where they could find something in the Word. Could you answer these questions? What if you was to go to church somewhere and someone was teaching or preaching something that was false? Would you know? What about your bad days? Those days when nothing goes right. Ever have those days where feel like entire world is against you? Those are the days we need the Scriptures in our hearts to get us through. That don’t happen just by reading. It happens by studying, and having that devotion of time to acquire knowledge. When we seek to acquire knowledge of Gods Word it will then be there in our heart and mind to draw upon when needed. Do you do a great job of just reading Scripture, or do you also devote time to truly study His Word?

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
