The Potter and the Clay

Jeremiah 18:1-6

The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, [2] Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words. [3] Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels. [4] And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it. [5] Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying, [6] O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.

The potter searches in the field for the clay. Like the potter, the Holy Spirit searches everywhere in the world for a lost sinner that needs a Savior. The potter separates the clay and prepares to make something useful out of it. The Holy Spirit will start to work on a person to separate him for the use of the work of God. The Lord will pour the word of God onto a person to soften them for God's use. Lost people have no clue that they're in need of a Savior until the power of God's word brings them to the point that they know they need a Savior. Just like the clay that the potter places on the wheel, God will take a person, and with a touch from the Master's hand, God will transform the life of an individual. God will apply his word and some pressure and start to change that person's life.

Consider where you would be if the Lord had not placed you on his wheel, changed your life, and the direction you were headed.
