Griping

Philippians 2:14

Do all things without murmurings and disputings:

It’s too hot. It’s too cold. Gas is too high. I could go on and on about many of the complaints we make on a daily basis. These statements are typically true. Does that mean we have to point them out? Is it a requirement somewhere that we “murmur” about everything? When all we do is complain, it’s going to put us in a bad spirit. Think also of who you’re complaining to:

Exodus 16:8

And Moses said, This shall be, when the LORD shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for that the LORD heareth your murmurings which ye murmur against him: and what are we? your murmurings are not against us, but against the LORD.

The Lord is in control, so we need to be careful that our complaining about our circumstances doesn’t become murmuring against the One who has allowed those circumstances in our lives.

When was the last time, if ever, we’ve spent a day being more thankful as opposed to complaining? Sure, we can have bad days, but even on the worst of days we have so much more to be grateful for! Think of how it could help not only your attitude, but also those around you if you were a little more thankful and a little less critical of everything.

1 Thessalonians 5:18

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

God bless,

Bro. Josh Richardson
