Apr 17 Devotion: The Everlasting Effect of Easter

Luke 24:6 He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,

1 Peter 1:3-5

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Jesus Christ paid for the sin debt of the world by the shedding of his innocent blood. He then died, was buried, and rose again the third day by the power of God, sealing the victory over that which separated God from man. He became our substitute and our propitiation. What he bought was eternal and everlasting. Those that will trust Jesus Christ as their Savior will have a redemption and reconciliation that will last forever. It was not a temporary fix but an eternal settlement. Because of the resurrection, death no longer holds sway over those that are in Christ. We may die physically before the rapture takes place, but we cannot experience the separation from the Father (spiritual death) ever again. Jesus not only conquered physical death but conquered that which caused spiritual death: which is sin. He is the complete victor and in him, we are more than conquerors. (Romans 8:37) The victory of Christ is an everlasting victory. It cannot be undone or overcome by any means or method. In him we are sealed, safe, and secure. The everlasting effect of Easter is eternal life for all those who will trust in Christ as their Savior. Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!
