Apr. 19 Devotion: Predetermined

Predetermined

Matthew 23:8

But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren.

This past Monday we had tax day. I’d venture to guess most all of you reading this filed your taxes either then or before that date. We do this since the government tells us we have to. For most of us when we get up each day we don’t sit around and debate whether or not we will go to work. If we want to stay employed and get a paycheck our place of employment has a certain time we must show up each day. You can call them rules or stipulations or whatever you’d like but our lives are full of things that we do because we are told to and we are expected to follow.

Why then do we seem to struggle when it comes to the things of God. If Christ is our only true Master then why do we find it so hard to abide by Gods instructions. It should never be a debate on if we are going to go to church or not. We shouldn’t be waking up in the morning and checking our schedule to see if we have time to read the Bible or not. We shouldn’t have such a debate inside when it comes to just choosing the right thing to do. Our Master lived a life that we should do all we can to model. No, we aren’t perfect but we should strive to live the best life we can. He has plenty of examples and guidelines in His Word that would make living that life a lot easier if we’d follow them the same way we do the rules of the world.

God bless you today!
