Genesis 1:3 And God said…
God’s words have power that is beyond comprehension. He spoke, and the earth came into existence. He spoke, and the stars appeared. He spoke, and the earth brought forth plant life in abundance. He spoke, and all animal life began, the sea brought forth its life, and the skies filled with fowl. His voice contains the power of omnipotence. It is a power beyond the reasoning of even the brightest of men.
God’s word (the Bible) contains these powerful words because they are inspired directly from God to men. They carry the same weight of power and can transform fallen man from being at the guilty distance of sin to the close relationship of forgiveness. In their inspiration, they can reprove, rebuke, and exhort. They contain the doctrine of God; his standard of righteousness and holiness. These are pure words that convict, guide, and empower. They give us clarity for our steps and a purpose for our path in life. The Bible is one of the most precious gifts that God ever gave to man. (The greatest gift was Jesus Christ.)
I wonder how we view this precious gift. Do we read it? Do we hide it in our hearts? Do we study it? Do we meditate on the truth found within? Do we love it and cherish it as a matchless treasure? You’ll need to answer that for yourself, but it is such a wonderful gift. Let us get in the book so the book can get in us.
