Overlooked blessings
Exodus 14:29 But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.
At this point in The Bible we have seen God send the plagues upon Egypt and pharaoh has allowed Israel to leave. Now as pharaoh and his army are pursuing them they have reached the Red Sea. We know the story how Moses has now parted the waters and we see in this verse that they cross the sea on dry ground. Personally, I always focus on the dry ground part. We know that God drown pharaoh just a few moments later. Today I want to think about the last part of this verse. Think of the walls of water on each side of them. Ever think about the fish swimming around and how God even held them back and kept those walls of water back and the scene it must’ve been to look inside that. What an aquarium that must’ve been. What a blessing! Ever focus on certain parts of a story and fail to see some of blessings and works of God in other aspects of the story? Ever think about how God got animals to the ark? How about why don’t see Isaac running off from Abraham? What about Daniel? Not only was he not devoured, God shut up the lions mouth so as Daniel wasn’t even roared at!! We discussed a few weeks ago about Israel here and why they were on the path they were on.
Exodus 13:17 And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt:
It was a blessing that they ended up crossing the Red Sea and not going another way and end up back in Egypt. We look at the big things and see the blessings. How about the little things? Where did Israel get their clothes after crossing Red Sea? They spent 40 in wilderness and not only did God feed them, He also made sure their clothes and shoes lasted. Think about how you may be reading this devotion. Somewhere along the line God gave someone the knowledge to invent an electronic device that God can give me a though to type out and you could be hundreds of miles away and yet get this devotion instantly. What a blessing!! Today you may be facing some things. Sure you can sit down and count your blessings, and we will always start with job, home, car, etc. Ever think about how your shoes haven’t worn out? Possibly you’ve had a set of tires outlast what they should have. I challenge you today to not count your normal blessings, but sit down and look at all those things God has blessed you with that often times you overlook!
God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
