April 11 Devotion: But Do You Want Revival?

But Do You Want Revival

Matthew 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

We know after we find this verse Jesus says it is the first and great commandment in verse 38. I believe if you’re reading this then you love the Lord. As we start revival this week I wonder do we truly desire revival. There are a lot of thoughts that may come across our minds when we hear the word revival. While there are a lot of things that could happen at the beginning the one thing it will bring is change. To have revival things can’t stay the same. There will be changes that take place if we are to have revival. When you read of revivals that happened in times gone by you see changes take place. It should start in the church. We should see changes in our hearts. We should make sure Christ is at the front of our hearts. When revival starts in us we will see it spread into the community. It might not take place overnight or in a week, but there should be a change. We live in such a fast pace world I’m afraid we don’t really believe God could shut down the bars in the area. We don’t believe God can fill up the church house more than Kroger on a Sunday. Do we think God could do such a work that the restaurants and gas stations would even be closed cause everyone would be in church? We seem to be fine with a small change in us, but to get outside the walls we don’t seem too interested. Are we afraid of growth? Are we afraid of having to give up something that we want to hold onto? Do we just think it’s not possible? There’s no doubt we love preaching. I believe most would show up as much as we could every night for preaching. We’d praise and worship God each night. We’d enjoy each evening and the help it would provide us to get through the next day, but do we want revival? Do we want to see God change our church, change our community and change our country?

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
