April 19 Devotion: Remove Your Stone

Remove Your Stone

Mark 16:3-4

[3] And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre? [4] And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great.

As we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus this weekend we should all recognize this scripture as Mary Magdalene and Mary come to the tomb to anoint Jesus with spices. They begin to ponder in verse 3 how they will get past the stone that is blocking the door. When they arrive they find it already rolled away. They were afraid that stone was going to keep them from Jesus.

What stone do you have in your life that’s keeping you from Him? There are many stones that we can place in the way to keep us from being used of God.

Do you have a stone blocking the growing of your faith? Something that keeps you from fully trusting Christ?

Do you have a stone of bitterness or anger placed in the way? A stone that’s keeping you from fellowship with a brother or sister in Christ?

Do you have a stone placed over your heart? You’ve been hurt before by other Christians, so how can you trust others?

There may be other stones you have placed in the way in other areas in your life.

If you want to have all of God you can, you are going to have to remove those stones and ask God to come in and heal or strengthen those areas. The stone wasn’t removed to let Jesus out. It was removed to let others in.

Will you let Jesus in today and help you, or are you going to continue to keep your stones rolled over your secret places?

God bless you today!
