Aug.27 Devotion:I Get To Go

I Get To Go!

Mark 5:18-19

[18] And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him. [19] Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.

At this point in Mark chapter 5 we see the man Jesus had just touched. This was a many possessed! A man that could not be bound and had often cut himself with stones. We see now that after the people have prayed Jesus to leave we see the man come desiring to go with Him. He knew the miracle Jesus had done in his life and wanted to spend time with Him. We might not be possessed to that extreme, and we might not have been a person wrapped deep in sin. However, if you are saved it’s still a miracle for all God has done for you in your life. I will ask you then if you share the same attitude this man did when it comes to Jesus? Are you a, “I have to” person or are you a, “I get to” person? On the pulpit at our church hangs a towel with the saying on it that Bro. Luther Spivey gave us one time:I really get to go!! That excites us when it comes to Heaven. How about in our everyday lives? Are we that excited about our study time or our prayer time? How about the next appointed time to go to church? You look forward to that or is it more of a burden on your day? Do you spend more time looking forward to the things of God, or looking for excuses to avoid the things of God? God has done so much in each and every one of our lives it should excite us to spend more time with Him, and to learn more about Him.

Examine yourself today and ask if you are a “ I get to”person, or a “ I have to”person

God bless you today!
