A GODLY WOMAN
Proverbs 31:10-13, 15, 23, 25-26, 28, 30-31 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
[11] The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
[12] She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
[13] She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
[15] She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
[23] Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
[25] Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
[26] She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
[28] Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
[30] Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.
[31] Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
Proverbs 11:16b A gracious woman retaineth honour:
I want to take some time today and I hope you do as well, to praise the Lord for the Godly women HE has placed in my life. The Lord blessed me with a Godly mother that loved me with a love that can only be surpassed by the love that Jesus showed me when HE died for me and saved me from my sins. My mother was there kneeling beside me the day I got born again. She lived a life before me and my family that taught me not just true unconditional love, but how a woman will sacrifice everything in her life for the good of her home, while all along portraying a humble spirit that only God can give. This devotion does NOT fit the modern day view of women, but the modern day view of a woman also does NOT line up with what the Bible says about women and the role and impact they can have on others. When you look around our world, listen to the news and all the movements taking place today and even in the church, the Biblical view of a woman has totally been distorted. I am so thankful for the Godly (Biblical) examples I have been given. My mother, my wife who is God’s most precious gift to me in the ministry, and my pastor’s wife who brings honor to her husband and to our Lord with her humble gracious spirit in how she carries herself. I could mention so many more, but it is these that have made the most impact in my life.
I know that what the Word of God tells us about women would start a firestorm and riot in Hollywood and the news media, but it does not change God’s perception. Where is the character that lingers in refreshing wonder after the woman has left the room? When did being a woman mean the absence of modesty and humility? How can a woman, who has no modesty, integrity or morals be hailed as a hero to women everywhere? When did it become okay for a woman to stop being a woman and take on the role of a man or try to be a man or look like a man? Where did women get the idea that they can talk, walk, act and speak any ole way they want to and still be called a woman? In the name of free speech and equality there has been a movement to take AWAY God’s true gift to mankind when HE gave Adam his wife. What is a real woman? How can we spot her and even more importantly how can we resurrect her in this generation? Being a woman, when I was growing up meant being a lady every way. It didn’t mean that women had NO voice or you couldn’t climb trees or ride bikes or even play in the dirt making mud pies; it just meant that girls were girls and boys were boys and you did NOT confuse the two.
A gracious woman that is yielded to God with a humble spirit can be one of the most powerful and influential forces upon this planet. A woman that loves God more than anything else, will impact her home and many generations to come with the life she lives. A woman devoted to God will be a mighty fortress around her home, she will keep the home with her love for husband and her children. This does not mean a woman can’t work a job, but she does not need to leave her home to make a huge impact in the world. A woman’s faith in God can hold a home and family together in unity. Her strong faith in God makes her unafraid of the future, she is strong and resilient and has invested every fiber of her being into her children’s lives. Her faith and humble spirit will live on long after she is gone for generations to come. The memory of my mother and her example still impacts me every day of my life, her influence will never be forgotten. Such a woman is beautiful and stunning on the inside and out and will light up a room without ever saying a word. Her genuine kindness and poise will never seek to do harm, but only build up, and she will protect with her own life what God has given her. There is NO shame in being this type of woman, she is NOT lesser or weaker, but mighty through God and HIS influence through her. If you have ever caught a glimpse of this type of woman it will leave an imprint on your life and her legacy will be passed on, she will be praised by others and she will be rewarded when she bows at the feet of Jesus!
