Aug 29 Devotion: Anemic Christians!

Mark 5:25-29- And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,

26 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,

27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.

28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.

29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.

*this woman had…

-Suffered through many treatments -v. 26a

-Spent all her money -v. 26b

-Sunken to her lowest point -v. 26c

-Set herself behind everyone else -v. 27a

Note: hemorrhaging for 12 yrs. left her weak and anemic.

Anemic Christians!

*anemic Christians are…

  1. Bankrupt Christians!

  2. Bent out of shape Christians!

  3. Blaming Christians! (Blaming everyone else)

  4. Bleak Christians! (Dreary)

  5. Bound Christians!

*by…

-Excuses

-Envy

-Ego (pride)

  1. Breathless Christians! (no Spiritual influence)

  2. Beset Christians!

*some are beset by…

  1. a) Sin

Heb. 12:1– WHEREFORE seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

  1. b) Separation

*from…

-People of God

-Promises of God

-Presence of God

  1. c) Selfishness

  2. Bitter Christians!

**Christians become anemic (sickly, drained) because they…

-Embrace worldly advice or treatment.

-are Empty of God’s blessings & treasures.

-Employ very little Godliness and become low.

-Essentially fall behind everyone else and rather move up they desire to be pitied.

-Entrench in their condition and time drains them.

***There is a solution!

-keep your Eyes off the crowd!

-Extend your arms to Jesus!  -v. 27

-Exercise Faith!  -v. 28

May we allow God to strengthen our inner man so as for us not to become anemic!  -Pastor Doug Foster
