Worth the Price?
1 Corinthians 7:23
Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.
They sure don’t make them like they used to! How many times have you said that statement or heard someone say that? There seem to be more and more items that don’t live up to the expectations of durability based on price. If I go to the Dollar Tree and buy something, I’m not expecting the same durability out of that as I am a $1000 TV. However, there are still plenty of things out there that do live up to their price tag. I’m thankful for my truck that the Lord blessed us with nearly 10 years and 170,000 miles ago!
Now some may say that 170,000 miles still isn’t a lot. They’ve seen them way higher. However, the worth in whatever we purchase is seen by the purchaser. Our text verse tells us we are bought with a price. Jesus laid down His life for us to have an opportunity to get born again and spend eternity in heaven! Just speaking for myself, in my eyes, I am not worth the price He paid. I fail Him on a daily basis. I do try every day though to seek His will and follow the path He has set for me. Seeking His will, living for Him, praising and worshipping Him, those are the things that the Lord desires out of our lives. If we do those things, then I believe we can hear: “Well done, good and faithful servant.” If we do those things, then in the Lord’s eyes, it was worth the price.
When the Lord looks at our lives, does He see that we were worth the price He paid, or have we given Him no return on His investment?
God bless,
