Aug 3 Devotion: Standing In Perilous Times

Standing In Perilous Times

1 Corinthians 16:13 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.

Burning Bibles, closing churches, just a complete disregard for the things of God. These are circumstances that even just a few years ago we never truly thought would come to pass. Yet here we sit and these things have unfortunately just become accepted it seems. These are also events that can not only get under the skin of Christians, but also could lead to them getting discouraged. We are told that perilous times are coming so we should already be prepared to see things that we never would’ve thought could take place. Some of the best advice we can get to handle these situations I believe is found right here in Gods Word in our text verse. First we must watch. Yes we can watch for His coming, but we also must watch out for ourselves. The devil wants nothing more than to ruin our testimony to others. Be on watch for people or circumstances that look to ruin your testimony. Next we must stand in our faith. In trying times there are going to a variety of things to encourage you to fall away from God. Stand firm in your faith in God to get you through all your trials! Next it says “quit you like men.” We must see things through. Be brave in those things that are in opposition of God. Finally, it says to be strong. This can be tough when it feels like the entire world is against us. Never lose sight of this fact:

Romans 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

They can do whatever they want, but we still have God on our side. As this world drifts farther and farther from God don’t allow the world to bring you down, and don’t lose sight of the fact that we are still on the winning side!!

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
