Aug.31 Devotion:God’s Not Your Social Media

God’s Not Your Social Media

Deuteronomy 6:5

And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

Exodus 20:3

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

1 Corinthians 10:23

All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.

James 3:10

Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

If you’ve made it past the title let me first say thank you. This isn’t a devotion to bash social media. I do want to ask though if you spend more time on your social media or with God? Have you gotten to the point that you treat God like a social media account?

Twitter limits your number of characters. Do you limit things with God? What about your prayer time. You just give him your list and be done as soon as possible or do you truly spend time in a prayer closet each day.

Instagram shows just snapshots of a person’s life. That all that God gets? You give him just a couple hours on a Sunday morning and that’s it?

Snapchat has things that just disappear. We are hiding nothing from God. He sees and knows all! No matter what you do in an instant and have idea of hiding it God still knows.

Facebook seems to be the one on the forefront of people’s minds. You can go there for just about everything you want to know about others. Do we do that with God’s Book?

There is blessing and cursing in everything and we must make sure we aren’t putting God in the backseat to anything. We have become a “fast-food” society where we expect everything and want to get thru everything as quickly as possible. That should not be how we treat God.

Pay attention to how you spend your day today. Does God get the attention He deserves or just a little snapshot of your life?

God bless you today!
