Accepting Help
Galatians 6:1-3 [1] Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. [2] Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. [3] For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.
How often have you heard someone say, “I’m ok.” How often have you yourself made that statement? There are too many times that people are not willing to accept help from others. There are multiple reasons for this to be the case, but too often it strictly comes down to our pride. We think of ourselves to be something we aren’t. We want to put on a big red cape and act like we can handle everything on our own. The Bible instructs us to restore one who may be overtaken in a fault here in vs 1. It also tells us to bear one another’s burdens in vs 2 here. If the Bible gives us those instructions then if we find ourselves in the position to need the help then we should be willing to accept that help someone is offering. As Christians we are instructed to show love one to another: John 13:34-35 [34] A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. [35] By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
If someone who is spiritual and trying to show that love by being there for us why then should we continually act like Superman. God can place people in our lives when we need lifted up or someone to help bear our burdens if we are burdened down with something. Don’t turn those people away because it could be just what you need.
God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
