Dec 14 Devotion: A Line In Concrete

A Line In Concrete

Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

Have you ever heard or even made the statement about drawing a line in the sand? The problem with a line in the sand is that it can be covered over with just a small breeze, and it can also be continually moved. However, if you make a line in the concrete it’s there permanently. Why do we need a line in the concrete? Jesus tells us here that He didn’t come to send peace, but a sword that will divide:

Matthew 10:35-36 [35] For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. [36] And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household.

See, today we have a society calling for unity. You even find some that call themselves “preachers” calling for unity. We should pray for our leaders. We should pray for our country. However, when they stand against the things of God we can not stand unified with that. People will use any excuse they can on why Gods people should support the nonsense going on around us. We should love others, we shouldn’t judge, etc. You can find unity talked about in the Bible. Unity with the brethren and with the Spirit. Not unity with the world. We are to be a called out and separate people. That means we have to be willing to draw a line in the concrete and we aren’t going to cross it! We have the best example in His Word. Jesus loved people and prayed for people. Nowhere do we find Him being unified with the sins of the world. Don’t allow this world to get you away from the things of God. Stand unified with Christ today!

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
