I Timothy 6:2 – “And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort“
The last five words of this verse challenge us to teach and exhort some things. It speaks of servants toward their masters and masters toward their servants.
Definition of exhort – To urge earnestly by advice, warning, to admonish strongly, to encourage
Today, notice some words of exhortation to Christians:
1. Peace – Let the peace of God rule in your hearts
Col. 3:15, Philippians 4:6-9
2. Strength – Let the Word of Christ dwell in you
Col. 3:16, II Timothy 3:14-17
3. Conformity – Let this mind be in you
Philippians 2:5, Romans 12:1-2
4. Character – Let your moderation be known of you all
Philippians 4:5, Ephesians 4:32
5. Conduct – Let your conversation be without covetousness
Hebrews 13:5, I Timothy 4:12
6. Testimony – Let your light so shine before men
Matthew 5:14-16
7. Watchfulness – Let your life be ever ready
Luke 12:36, Matthew 24:42, Matthew 25:13
