Contentment
Philippians 4:11-12 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. [12] I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
We have hit that time of year where so many have their “lists”. Things they want for Christmas. There is nothing wrong with wanting new things. You will also hear people talk about there is really nothing they want. They are completely content with what they have. That is also a wonderful spot to be in. It is great to have peace in your life and be content with what you have in your life and wherever God may have you in your life. I wonder though how many of us are content in what we are doing for the Lord? We seem to live in a society where we get in our comfort zone so to speak in our service for God. We go to church, do a little reading, maybe even help out a little around the church and we are good with that. If that’s all God wants from you then that’s great. However, when was the last time we prayed to seek God’s will for our life? When was last time you sought God to see if there is something else He wants you to do? Doing more for Him doesn’t always have to be something major. It could just be that you are willing to pray for someone else, study something you’ve never studied before, even just try to be an encouragement to someone new. There are many areas God can use us and many ways in those areas we can be used of God. Has your worldly contentment bled over and become a spiritual contentment as well?
God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
