Dec. 2 Devotion: Who’s Getting On With You?

Who’s Getting On With You?

Hebrews 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

Ever since our pastor preached from here on Sunday evening I’ve not been able to get this off my heart. We know all the time that Noah spent building the ark. I also can’t help but think he faced a lot of ridicule and was laughed at when he’d tell what he was doing. Especially after it went on for so long. He continued to do what God had instructed him to do, but still no one on the world would board the ark with him besides his family. Made me wonder who would get on with you? Who would board with you based on your:

Walk- I just alluded to the fact that Noah just continued to do what was instructed of him. Do you walk daily close enough to Christ to point others to him?

Work- Does what you’re doing point others to Christ? What work are you doing for Christ?

Word- Does your conversation reflect Christ? I would tend to believe that Noah just shared what he had been told by God. He didn’t try to add on or take away anything, he didn’t try to complicate things. How often do we just share the Gospel?

Willingness- How willing are we to do what God shows us to do? For 120 years of building the ark Noah was just willing to do what God had told him. No matter what came his way he just stayed the path.

What really got me thinking though was this. Noah did what God had told him to do. However, no one got on with him except his family. His family seen his faith. His family seen the work he put in everyday. His family knew he believed what God had told him and they were behind him. What does your family see? We might show the world one thing, but those that are the closest to us see the real us. The life we live around our family: Would it cause our family to board the ark with us? We might not need an ark, but the world is still going to end. Do we live a life like we believe this world is about to end? Do we live a life that shows them the need to not be left behind?

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
