Dec 25 Devotion: The Reason He Was Born In A Manger

Isaiah 9:7 – “Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.”

I know many will have a busy day, so I shall endeavor to keep the thought brief. The verse before this is a staple to be read and preached on this time of year. It was a prophecy of Christ’s birth where we learned He would be called Wonderful, Counselor, the everlasting Father and the Prince of Peace. Yet, so many leave off reading this verse, which explain the next step  after Christ came as a babe in a manger over 2 millennia ago …  the Millennial Reign.

Christ came as a babe so that He might redeem man of sin. His second coming will see Jesus return as a King to reign. There is so much to rejoice in knowing that we will soon see Christ sit upon the throne of David, peace without end and a never ending rule of Christ as the only Lord of lords and King of kings.

Yet so many celebrate the birth of Jesus today and take no thought of His imminent return. As wonderful as that reign will be, there are far too many that still haven’t heard of His first coming that will be doomed to the charred region of the damned if they do not accept Him as Savior. Christ was not born so that we would celebrate His birth. He was born to die for man’s sin so that they would be counted among His brethren once he sat upon the throne.

Your fellowservant in Christ,

Bro. Jordan Foster
