Dec 28 Devotion: Being Intentional

Being Intentional

Lamentations 3:22-23 [22] It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. [23] They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Over this upcoming week you will see lights come down, decorations get changed, Christmas sweaters put away, etc. What we think of as the “holiday season” that started back in November comes to a close. Even though this year has been different there is still one thing I noticed: That excitement and joy that comes this time of year was still there for many. Do you put that joy away with the rest of the holiday decorations? Jeremiah tells us here about the Lord’s mercies. How they are new every morning, and it’s those mercies that keep us from being consumed. Because of God’s mercies, His compassion towards us, and His faithfulness to bestow these on us daily, we should not allow ourselves to get back into a mundane routine. As born again believers we have something to celebrate everyday. His mercy and grace, the peace that we have, all should give us a hope that shines on our face daily. Some days this can be hard. It’s easy to get wrapped up in the goings on of this world. Whatever happens in this world changes nothing with what God does for us. Sometimes it will take us being stern in that we are not going to let the world leave us defeated! If we desire to make an impact in this world then we need to take the same attitude we have through the holidays with us through the entire year. Let people see the joy and love in our hearts. Point them to Jesus and show them why He is worth celebrating all year long and not just a few days in December! Be intentional in the love of Christ you show the world!

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
