New Beginnings
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
A lot of people will spend the next couple days setting goals as well as making resolutions for the new year. More often than not those things all center around our physical, mental, or financial state. I’m not downplaying any of those. Each of those are important things in our lives.
However, what about our spiritual state? We use this verse in discussions about being saved. About repenting and turning a different direction and becoming a new creature after being saved. I’ll ask today: Is there anything new in Christ today that wasn’t there a year ago? What about something new you want to be there a year from now? Maybe it’s gaining a better understanding of something in The Bible. What about getting out of our comfort zone and doing something for God that we never thought we would do. It could be something simple as starting a Bible study group or a prayer group. As Christians it should be our desire to grow in the Lord. We should want to learn more, as well as do more for Him.
What if we spent the same amount of time focused on our spiritual well being as we do other aspects of our lives?
As you make any goals or resolutions for the new year make sure not to neglect the importance of your spiritual well being as well.
God bless you today!
