Dec. 8 Devotion: Remember Me

Remember Me

Luke 23:42

And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.

Hanging on the cross next to the Lord Jesus was a condemned man dying. He looked to the Lord and asked a great question: that was to be remembered by the Lord. To be remembered by the Lord is a personal thing. If you were looking at this man and his condition, you would think that he is doomed, but nobody knew that he had asked Jesus the greatest question you could ask: remember me. What a blessing to know that when everyone else forgets, Jesus will remember. The process of being remembered is that Jesus gave him what he desired. This man was one breath away from eternal damnation. The rest of his life would be spent in a lake of fire, suffering for eternity, but because he was bold enough and humble enough to ask Jesus to remember him, his whole future changed. It’s been almost two thousand years, and he's had the best life you could imagine. It would be nice to be remembered after you're gone, but I'd rather be remembered by the Lord. It was a permanent help that Jesus gave this man. Jesus told this man that today he'd be with him in paradise. I'm not worthy for Jesus to remember me, but I'm glad that he helps those that are not worthy.

May God bless you,

Bro. Ron Little
