What’s Your Spirit Say?
John 3:16 John 11:35 Genesis 1:1 Romans 10:13 Romans 6:23
How many of those verses do you know and can recite by memory? I’d say these are 5 of the most recognizable verses today. Knowing Scripture is a great thing! The more Scripture we know by heart the better off we are. There are so many advantages to having Scripture in our heart. When you are down you can think on Scripture that can lift you up. It will help you recognize falseness. It’s important to have Scripture in our heart that we can call up to help others as well as answer questions they might have. Now don’t misconstrue what I’m about to ask. Is Scripture all you got? I can find lost people that know Scripture. I can see people all over post Scripture whose lives show no fruit of being a Christian. Unfortunately, it’s those reasons that lead so many today to not allow Scripture to have any affect on them. They’ve seen people recite verses to them, yet those throwing verses out there still live like the world. What sets us apart is our spirit. Have you ever met someone and walked away saying this: They seemed ok, but they sure had an odd spirit about them? You’re not trying to be judgmental, but they were just a little odd. Could the same be said for you? Can the world look at you and say you are just different? Does our spirit give off an aura of someone who cares, someone who loves others, someone who’s willing to speak the truth? I know plenty of people that seem to know plenty about the Bible. However, their spirit says something completely different than what the Bible says a Christian should be. You can know the Bible front to back. What good does that do you if you have a hateful and unfriendly spirit that no one wants to be around? How is that going to help spread the Gospel? What does our spirit say about us? Does it exemplify Christ? I heard this statement this week: Your content will only take you as far as your character will keep you. What can be said of your character?
1 Corinthians 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
Does this verse hold true for you? Does it show?
God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
