Titus 1:2 – “ In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;”
We often hear the verse quoted that Christ was the lamb slain before the foundation of the earth. But how often do we consider the implications of that truth?
God finalized the plan for salvation and ensured its completion before the Earth was created without form. Therefore, if God had already ensured that Christ would become the payment for the sin of man, God also promised eternal life for the redeemed long before He made Adam and Eve.
The promise of eternal life is older than any form of life on this earth. Thus, our hope for eternal life did not start at Calvary, it was finished in the alpha of time when Christ purposes to become our Redeemer. At that moment, the promise of eternal life to all that would believe on the Son was promised. God saw then, just as clearly as John was shown in Revelation, all those that would be bought with the blood of the Lamb.
He saw us, repentant and asking for Christ to save us, using our faith to trust that He would do what He promised to. In that moment of eternity past, God promised you everlasting life and eternal fellowship with Him. Our hope is anchored in the veil, but it was promised much further in the past when God purposed to make man and redeem him from his choice to embrace sin.
So if God promises our eternal life that far in the past, if God purposes to perform all that was required for you to receive salvation, if God meant His promise so deeply that He sought you out when you had no care for Him …. don’t you think that God has already provided or arranged exactly what you need to make in through each day?
