Feb 10 Devotion: An Ok Christian

An Ok Christian

Revelation 3:15-16

[15] I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. [16] So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

We all know this portion of Scripture. A letter to the church of the Laodiceans. A church that was lukewarm. How often do we treat our own lives that way? We aren’t on fire for God, nor are we cold against Him. Think of the new commercials running on tv about “ok is not ok.” You wouldn’t take that Dr. that has just been reinstated. We wouldn’t dare to jump out of a plane with an instructor making his second ever jump. Why then do we think it’s ok to be an ok Christian? Why do expect God to accept our half hearted attempts at a Christian life? When we want to only choose certain things out of the Bible to apply to our lives, then we can’t proclaim that we are on fire for God! When the world looks at us and has to question whether or not we are a Christian then we are not living the life God wants us to be.

There are many things in our life that we aspire to do our very best in. Whether it be the best employee we can be, the best at a certain hobby, or even just being the best friend we can be to others. There are certain things we have the drive and determination to be great at. What if we put forth that same type of effort into being the best Christian we could be. Our Pastor has often said the world has yet to see one church completely sold out for God.

What could we accomplish for Him if we sought to be that church?

God bless you today!!
