Feb 12 Devotion: Quickly

Quickly

Deuteronomy 9:16 And I looked, and, behold, ye had sinned against the Lord your God, and had made you a molten calf: ye had turned aside quickly out of the way which the Lord had commanded you.

The scripture here, as well as this verse, are referring to Moses’ trip to get the tables of stone. Upon returning he has found the people have quickly turned from God and made a molten calf. Why are we so quick to turn to anger, or turn from God, but slow to turn to God. Somebody makes us mad or offends us in the House of God and we will stop going to church. We read something that we don’t like in scripture then we will skip over it next time, or just try to interpret it to fit our agenda. We won’t even give these things a second thought. It almost comes out as second nature that this is how we react. Why isn’t the opposite true? Something unexpected comes our way, and which way do we turn? Self-help books, the direction of others. Often its many things before God. What would it do for our own sanity if we’d just practice what scripture says?

Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

Yes there are things that infuriate us. Sure some things can aggravate us to no end, and even get on our last nerve. What does that have to do with God though? Why are we so quick to cut back on, or cut out God in our lives when all He does is show us mercy and grace? Are you quick to turn to God, or quick to turn away from Him? God bless you today! Bro.
