Why You Go?
Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is ; but exhorting one another : and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
In yesterdays ladies service at jail we had 8 ladies that came. It was honestly the first time since we’ve been back that I had this feeling: Some didn’t come to hear His Word preached. There could be some like that in every service for all I know. If they get a chance to get an hour or so out of their cell they will take it no matter what it’s for. Since we’ve been back most have all came in and been very receptive to everything. Yesterday there were a couple that it really felt like that wasn’t the case. They weren’t disrespectful, they weren’t disturbing the service, but they were easily distracted. I even brought it up during the preaching the very fact that I’m sure some come to just get out of their cell. Even if that’s the case they still get to hear the Word of God preached to them. Even though some might’ve came that way we still had a great service and some got some help and even came forward at the end for prayer. However, as I left there and throughout the day I just kept coming back to a simple question. Why do I go to church? Why do you go to church? Are you going to ease your conscience each week? Do you go out of feeling obligated to go? Do you go so Pastor don’t call and ask you where you were and if everything is ok? Do you go out of routine? Is it something you just do at those appointed times? Do we just walk in, walk out, and give no thought to the privilege we have to come worship Him? What would our services looked like if we simply showed up looking to worship Him, and expecting God to show up? Rather short and simple question for today. Why do you go to church?
God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
