Feb 22 Devotion: Well Able

Well Able

Numbers 13:30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

Can you imagine being Caleb in this instance? He has a whole group of people telling him how dire a situation they are facing. He’s just heard how this land that God has promised them is being dwelt by people that are too strong for them. How the cities are walled and how there are “ites” so to speak on every side. Caleb isn’t interested in cowering though. Instead here in vs 30 he says, “ let us go up at once.” He wasn’t interested in developing a plan or waiting on something else. Caleb knew what God had promised and knew that God was on their side. Therefore, he knew that they were “well able to overcome it.” What about the things we are faced with? What does it take for us to cower to the world? How hard is it for the devil to steal our joy? Often times we have something small come into our lives and we crumble. A flat tire can ruin our day, an appliance can go bad and we think the world is going to end. Something isn’t done to our liking and we act like the sky is falling. Lord help us if we try to share the Gospel with someone and they aren’t interested. The devil will convince us it’s a lost cause and we will never try again. We allow him to steal the joy of our salvation! I’m convinced too many of us follow the first 5 words of Philippians 4:13. “ I can do all things.” We think we can handle anything on our own. We have it all under control when we get to the point like Caleb is here. Caleb knew they were well able with God. It takes those last 5 words of Philippians 4:13 “..through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Whatever you’re faced with today. Whoever may come against you. Whatever circumstances may befall you today. With God on your side you are well able to overcome it!!

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
