WHEN JESUS BECOMES EVERYTHING

John 1:29-30, 34 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

[30] This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.

[34] And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.

John 3:30 He must increase, but I must decrease.

It is good for us all to be reminded that the Gospel, the Lord’s work, salvation, and the church are so much bigger than ANY of us! So many today that put THEIR name upon a ministry may begin to be influenced or led astray by the applause or glory of man. Salvation and the Gospel message are ALL a SUPERNATURAL work of God and that is HIS business. HE alone does the work and it is HIM alone that will continue and sustain the work that HE started from the foundation of the world. Our Brother John came to this understanding when he said, “HE was before me”. Then he says, “HE must increase, but I must decrease.” Oh that this wonderful Truth would be displayed inwardly and outwardly in us that we may understand that the furtherance of the Gospel is not about us but it is ALL a work of God! IF Jesus, through the Holy Ghost does NOT do it, it will NOT get done. Hallelujah!

Brother John understood that it was not about his fiery preaching, his oratory skills, or any of his abilities…he learned it was about JOHN getting out of the way so that Jesus would be MAGNIFIED! It is not about what we will benefit or gain by our work for the Lord, not about the glory or honor that is placed upon us by the hand of men. Our service and ministry for the Lord is so much bigger than that, so much bigger than any one man upon this planet. Sometimes, we may lose sight of the BIG PICTURE. Only God in HIS infinite wisdom and absolute perfect providential plan knows how to put it all together and place us right where HE needs us to be, so that HE may do NOT some but ALL THE WORK! To have any other attitude is to be but a common thief robbing the treasury of God for personal glory or gain.

D.L. Moody said, “The beginning of greatness is to be little, the increase of greatness is to be less, and the perfection of greatness is to be nothing”. May the Lord open our eyes to see, and keep us humble to the Truth…when we become nothing that is when Jesus becomes everything to those who are lost without HIM.
