Does that sound comfortable? Matthew 27:28-31 [28] And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe. [29] And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews! [30] And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head. [31] And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him .
We see here in Matthew the account of Jesus being crucified. Sometimes it would do us good to read this and remember what He went thru because He loves us so!! Not only this but the fact he was beaten so bad that His bones stared back at Him.
Psalm 22:17 I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.
We can’t fathom that type of beating, the humiliation of having some one mock us or spit in our face. None of this sounds very comfortable. Why then do we come to Church expecting comfort. Yes He can give us comfort in our lives, but I mean feeling comfortable. When we come into Gods house and the sanctuary we should come in with reverence, respect, and ready to worship. Instead we come in like God owes us something. We want padded pews, preaching to be easy, and prideful. We must realize every time we enter God’s house it is serious business as there are souls in the balance!! It’s not to be treated as just a place we go to get together with friends. All Jesus suffered for us we should take His House seriously. May God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
