Someone Is Watching
Matthew 26:69-73
[69] Now Peter sat without in the palace: and a damsel came unto him, saying, Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee. [70] But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest. [71] And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him, and said unto them that were there, This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth. [72] And again he denied with an oath, I do not know the man. [73] And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech bewrayeth thee.
We know this portion of scripture where after Peter tells Jesus he’d go with him to death, he instead denies knowing Jesus at all. How did all these accusers know Peter had been with Jesus? No doubt they had seen him with Jesus at some point. They had been watching his life! We also should realize that someone is always watching our lives. It could be family, co-workers, neighbors, etc. People are watching to see how we handle not only adversity, but also what we do on those mountain top points of our lives. Unfortunately, some are watching to find fault, but others can be watching to see just how real the Lord truly is in our lives.
Someone else that is watching is kids. Kids are molded by those around them and those they watch. For those who read this that don’t attend our church we had a youth rally this past Saturday evening. We had a number of young people from multiple churches attend. They did some sword drills, played Bible trivia, and sang. They also got to hear some preaching, and we had one young person get gloriously born again!! Each of these young people are looking up to someone. Each day the steps we take are magnified by the people watching. Especially when it comes to the kids we encounter. Kids are very impressionable, and the things we do will have a lasting effect on them. Think of the people you remember from your childhood. It could be a Sunday school teacher, a school teacher who made things fun, maybe even a neighbor that would do things with or for you. The same way those, as well as others, molded us into the people we are today, we are now those people for the kids around us.
Are you aware today of the impact you have on those around you? Do you think of the steps you take and who might just be walking in that path you leave behind?
God bless you today!
