Jan 20 Devotion: The Time Is Now

The Time Is Now

James 4:14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

You ever stop and think about how many times in a day you might use the word time? Time to get up, time for work, time to go home, time for dinner, time for bed. There are many other ways I could list. Each day is all about time. I think most of us would agree we could all use more time each day. If we can agree that we need more time, why then do we not realize how short of time we have left to do what God would have us to do. We are told here in our text verse just how quickly our time passes by. Yet, a lie of the devil that we believe is that we don’t have to be in a hurry when it comes to the things of God. How many times have you ever thought about sharing the Gospel with someone only to decide to wait until a more “convenient” time. What about starting a Bible study group or something similar only to talk yourself out of it until you have more time. Has that time ever come now?

We can wait on dinner. Watching our favorite TV show isn’t all that important. What we don’t need to put off anymore is doing what God wants us to do!

How many times a day do you allow something else to take precedence over the things of God cause you think you have time to do it later?

God bless you today!
