Who Is Jesus?
Mark 8:27-29 And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am? [28] And they answered, John the Baptist: but some say, Elias; and others, One of the prophets. [29] And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ.
We all are familiar with this portion of Scripture. Jesus asking His disciples who the world says He is. Then poses the question in verse 29 of who do they say He is? Who is Jesus to you today? Before you answer how I’d like you to look at a few things. Look at how the world has commercialized Him. Remember WWJD? On the surface it’s a great question. However, I’m afraid it turned into something that was just commercialized and made fun of in the end. Look at how the world has tried to bring the Lord to our level. Ever heard Him referred to “the man upstairs?” Some treat Him like He’s just their buddy that they can take off the shelf when needed. Many in the world still treat Him like He is still just a baby in a manger. The world has tried to diminish the authority of Jesus. Some don’t even like to speak His name. Now I don’t believe any of us look at the Lord in any of these ways. However, have we allowed some of those thoughts to creep into our minds some and not look at Jesus the way we should? Do we look at Jesus as the Sovereign Holy God that He is? Do we treat Him as the all knowing God He is? Do we believe He’s the soon to return Saviour? I’d like to think that if we did we’d live our lives differently than we do at times. Do we treat Him as the Alpha and the Omega of our lives? Do we turn to Him first in all we do? How important is He in your life? How many times through the day do you just think about the Lord? What He’s done for you, what He means to you, etc. Who is Jesus truly to you?
God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
