Jul 2 Devotion: Because God Said So

Genesis 1: 3 - “And God said, …”

I’ll admit, this may be an “unusual” devotion. But since when has Immanuel Baptist Church been concerned with doing things the “usual way?”While listening to one of my favorite songs by the Phillips Family, I started thinking about how much of our life is actually dependent upon what God has said through the years. Not dependent upon what you did, not contingent on what Satan has purposed to. Not based on whatever agenda the world has decided to push. But forever settled based upon the word of the Almighty!

You were redeemed because God said so.

You were robed in His righteousness, because God said so.

You have citizenship in heaven, a title of joint heir with Christ and membership in the family of God because He said so.

Your prayers enter into he throne room of God because God said so.

Nothing in heaven, earth or under the earth can separate us from God’s love because He said so.

Aside from mankind which he made with his hands out of the dust, everything exists because God Said so.

The ground you walk on wound up where it is because God said it needed to be there during the event of Noah’s flood.

You woke up today because God said so. The sun rose and the stars will light the night sky because God said they could, today.

You have hope because God said it was available. You received a measure of faith because God said so. You have renewed mercies each day because God said it would be that way. God said that you would be loaded with benefits daily. The yoke you chose to take upon your shoulders is easy and your burden is light because God said so.

You are fitly framed into the body of the local church because God said so. You aren’t tempted above your ability because God said so.

You’ll never be alone because God said so. Your very capacity to exercise free will is because God said so. You were presented with the choices you face today because God said so. Every spiritual fruit that grows in your life is because God said so. Politicians are elected because God said so. Time goes on because today God said it wasn’t time for the Son to return for His bride.

Every door that opens and window that shuts in your life is due to God’s say on the matter.

The only reason you retain an identity of self and function in your right mind is because God said so.

You have access to the preserved Word of God because He said you would have that opportunity.

If so much of our life is dependent upon the very words that have been uttered by Jehovah, why do we think we can interpret what he speaks from his Word how we would like? Why would we try to avoid the will of God? Why would we doubt his intentions or plans?

The only reason you have the opportunity to wrestle with any of those things is because God spoke a space of grace into your life.

Glory to God and what a wonderful God we serve.

Your fellowservant in Christ,

Bro. Jordan Foster
