July 13 Devotion: This Concern You?

This Concern You?

Mark 2:8 And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?

We live in a society that is consumed with concern over a lot of things. People worried about COVID-19 or social injustices. People concerned about their “followers” or who’s on their friends list. We are overly concerned with what others think of us. We will try to adjust our actions or appearance if we think it will put us in a better light in others eyes. Well we know in 1 Samuel the Bible tells us that man looks on the outward appearance, but God looks on the heart. Then here in our text verse we see just one of the multiple instances where the Bible tells us of times that Jesus knew what some reasoned in their hearts. Does that concern you at all? We can say whatever we want with our lips. We can dress up real nice and do all the things we think we are supposed to do outwardly. However, what does our heart show? We can outwardly show whatever we’d like, but God knows our heart! We’ve had some wonderful services and God has showed up tremendously, but He also knows whose heart has been in it and whose been there because that’s what they were supposed to do. Yet, we seem to go about our normal lives with no concern that God knows our heart. If we are where we are supposed to be with Him, then it shouldn’t be a concern for us. However, if there are things hidden away keep in mind that they are only hidden from the world. God knows what’s in there. Does God knowing your heart concern you at all?

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
