July 15 Devotion: Big Talk

Big Talk

Matthew 26:33,75

[33] Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended. [75] And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

Peter was certain in vs 33 that he would never be one to be offended by Christ. Jesus then tells him that he would deny Christ 3 times that very night. Verse 75 then shows us that Peter did in fact deny The Lord three times and went out from all that was there and wept. We could look at Peter at times as one who would put his foot in his mouth so to speak. He was very quick to speak out at times. How often is that us? We are quick to claim all the things we will do for God. We will make claims about how much we want revival. We are presented with opportunities to not only strengthen our faith.

There are situations we go through that God has allowed to come into our lives, but they don’t grow us the way they should because we aren’t truly where we need to be spiritually. Our heart isn’t anywhere close where our words claim that we are.

We claim we want to see revival. However, how much is our heart truly in those words. Revival isn’t about a special week or weekend meeting. It isn’t something that should be scheduled in. If we want revival, then we should spend all the time we can seeking God in that aspect and show up at each service with the expectation that revival will break out!

Pray for the lost! A prayer request often given, and a prayer we may often make. What are we doing to see that prayer answered. I’m guessing we all come in contact with lost people each day. When was the last time you prayed instead for an open door to talk to the lost about the Lord?

We truly are a very educated society in that we always seem to know the right words to say. We can use big words to sound intelligent, or kind words to sound caring. However, it’s what’s on the inside that matters. It’s not about all of our “big talk”. As the old saying goes: actions speak louder than words!

God bless you today!
