Not A Nickname
Revelation 1:6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
At times there seem to be certain things that are thrown around so freely that we just become numb to what things truly mean. How often you hear people refer to something as amazing! Is it really THAT amazing? Unfortunately, that’s one of the reasons I’m afraid some that are lost don’t see their need for salvation. The word hell is thrown around so freely that people don’t see the reality of eternity in hell. Now think about how often the word “king” is thrown around. In golf you had “The King” Arnold Palmer. In music you had “The King” Elvis Presley. NASCAR has “The King” Richard Petty. Basketball has “king” James. No doubt there are probably others that I’m not aware of. We even have the royalty in Britain and other nations that still have Kings and Queens. With all that is going on in this world it is easy to get down or easy to think of yourself as worthless. However, the Bible says he has made us kings and priests!! Not only that, it also tells us that one day we will reign with Him!
2 Timothy 2:12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him : if we deny him, he also will deny us:
Revelation 20:4-6 [4] And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. [5] But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. [6] Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
Next time you hear someone just throw the word king around like it’s no big deal, maybe use that opportunity to talk to them about Christ. Let them know how one day you will be a king and reign with Him. No matter where the world has you classified today remember one day we’ll be made kings and priests and rule and reign with Him!!
