Are You Serious In Asking
Psalm 37:4 Delight thyself also in the Lord ; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
“Asking for a friend.” Something I’ve seen repeatedly anymore at times when people want to play questions off. I completely understand that this is simply in jest and a joke. However, how often are we similar in our talking with God. Ever ask God for something when you know you aren’t where you should be?
1 John 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
We seem to think we can just pull Jesus off a shelf, ask Him whatever it is we want, and He’s supposed to answer just because. Other times we just ask because we just feel like we are supposed to. Asking for Him to help someone else, or to meet with us in our services.
James 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
How often are we truly in tune with God, and do we take things that we ask him seriously? When we are get serious with him in prayer and in what we desire he will give us answers. It just may not be the answer we want. It can be easy to pray and ask God to send revival. However, are we serious in that request? Are we ready for the sacrifices it takes for true revival to break out? We must be careful that we aren’t just throwing out requests because it feels like the right thing to do. I’ve personally seen this past week how when we get serious with Him in making our requests known, how He will manifest himself and gives us answers. Whatever your desires may be, be serious in your talk with God and see how serious He can be with you in return.
God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
