July 27 Devotion:Which Friend Are You?

Which Friend are You?

Matthew 24:39-42

[39] And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. [40] Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. [41] Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. [42] Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

Today I want you to use your imagination a bit and think of that instant right after the rapture.

The news is down at the local factory asking someone what has happened and they have no clue. They comment their friend was right there and now they are gone. Just a pile of clothes left. Their friend never mentioned anything about going anywhere or something taking place.

Then someplace else the news comes upon a person weeping. They begin to explain they heard a sound and just like that their friend was gone. They know where they are because they had been told that Jesus was coming again, and they know without a doubt that’s what has happened.

Christian friend, which one of those friends would be yours? Have you ever thought to yourself, “Well I invited them to church so I did my part.” See I can invite someone to play golf with me, and it’s possible they’ve seen it on tv or just heard about it and think it’s boring so there is no chance they are going to go. They have a preconceived opinion of what it is. The same happens with church. People form opinions based on other things they see or hear, or possibly others who go to so called churches, so there is no chance they want to attend. That’s why it’s important for us to share the Gospel with the people around us. We should be praying and asking God to open avenues for us to share the Gospel with those who seem to have no desire for it. Just inviting them to church isn’t all we can do. We should not be the one to leave behind a friend and that person have no idea what has taken place the moment after the rapture. The Bible instructs us to teach, but do we?

Matthew 28:19-20

[19] Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: [20] Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Ask God to not only show you someone today you could invite to church, but also someone you can share the Gospel with.

God bless you today!
