July 3 Devotion: Freedom

Freedom

John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Verse 34 in this text tells us that “whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.” However, we know that the Son has made us free when we place our trust in Him. The Lord has set us free from our sin and we are no longer bound and headed to a devils hell! Praise God for the freedom He has blessed us with. As our country celebrates this Independence Day, how thankful are you for the freedoms we enjoy? How thankful are you that we can do all the simple things like get gas or groceries anytime we need them? We have the freedom to travel about in our country for work, vacations, etc. Are you thankful that you can do that or is it something you take for granted? What about when it comes to the things of God? The freedom to possess the Word of God. The freedom to go to the Lords house and worship Him! There are so many that went on before us and paid the ultimate sacrifice for us to have the freedoms we have today. While there may be many things today in our country we aren’t happy with we still live in the greatest country in the world that still affords us the opportunity to worship the one true God at anytime we choose. There are still multiple countries across this globe that have to meet underground, don’t have the Word of God like we do, and can’t freely worship like we can. Are you thankful for the freedoms you enjoy all the time and not just times that are set aside to celebrate them?

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
