July 3 Devotion: Meditating On God

Meditating On God

Joshua 1:8-9 [8] This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. [9] Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

There are over 86,000 seconds in a day, obviously a very large number. How many thoughts do you think you have in those seconds? You can find a lot of guesses out there on what that number is. Anywhere from 12-60,000 or more. What really struck me though is that you can find stats that estimate 80% or more of those are negative thoughts. How many of your thoughts revolve around some sort of negativity? I know that our flesh isn’t saved, I know the devil will play tricks in our minds. Have you ever went on a diet? Ever started an exercise program. Anything new we start requires us to have a new and different mindset! What would our mindset and lives be like if we replaced those negative thoughts with thoughts of God and all that He has blessed us with? It may not happen overnight, but we should make a concerted effort to meditate more on the things of God throughout the day. Meditating more on Him each day can help give us peace and comfort! Help us to always remember how blessed we are!! Start today replacing some of those negative thoughts with meditating more on God!

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
