July 6 Devotion: Why We Should Study the Word

I Timothy 2:15 – Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

What a great privilege to have a copy of the Word of God! It is of such value to us as Christians. This verse says that study proves us unto God and makes us a workman not to be ashamed. Study helps us rightly divide the Word of God.

Reasons to Study the Word

1. The encouragement that’s in it.

2. The enlightenment it gives.

3. The energy it imparts.

4. The enjoyment it brings.

5. The enlargement it provides.

6. The establishment it produces.

In closing- study Psalms 119:11

Thy Word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against Thee.
