Showing God’s Love
Luke 10:36-37
[36] Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves? [37] And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.
These verses finish up the story of the Good Samaritan. That story all starts with a question in vs 29.
Luke 10:29 But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?
There was a deep hatred that existed between the Jews and Samaritans. We are at a relatable place in society I believe. There are too many who seem to have a hatred towards others who don’t share their same views. What about you? We are instructed to love others in vs 27.
Luke 10:27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
No we don’t have to agree with everyone. No we are not condoning anyone’s sin, and no we are not trying to fit in with the world. However, we should show love one to another. It’s not hard to find someone in today’s society that is embracing sin. We should be in prayer that God will open a door for us to have an opportunity to share the Gospel with them. Letting them know that we don’t agree with their lifestyles, but we love them and we are concerned about their souls. We never know if we will make a difference, but that should not keep us from putting forth the effort. I’m afraid we come in contact people on a daily basis that WE look at as lost causes, or WE look at as unreachable. Having no idea what a little love and compassion could do for someone.
Will you go around or step over those different than you today? Will you show them love, and a concern for their soul?
God bless you today!
